On Monday, August 29th, 2005 we had just finished our departmental prayer time when I got a call to go to my boss’s office. It was about 9:30. He told me that he thought I had been doing a great job and that at 10:45 I needed to be in Dennis Rainey’s office because I had an interview for the Director’s position! I was both excited that I was still being considered for that position (as they had initially decided not to place me there) and nervous about having my first one-on-one visit with Dennis Rainey as an interview with only an hour to prepare.
Fortunately, there wasn’t time to get too nervous and my visit with Dennis went well. He shared some of his troubles over the years finding the right person for this position and I think that my status as missionary staff helped him feel more comfortable. In the past, that position has been filled by normal, hired staff. In my case, he knew that I was here for the ministry first and wasn’t interested in empire building but rather in Kingdom building.
At 4:00 that afternoon, I was again called to my boss’s office and he offered me the position. The next morning it was announced to the Information Services staff (a staff of about 15). They have been very supportive and are glad to have leadership after a 7 month vacancy. The job entails a lot more responsibility and will require that the Lord give me much wisdom and peace in the midst of the storm. I would definitely appreciate your prayers.
What this means for our team is that, if you are supporting us, your gifts are going to make a larger difference at a higher level. We are so grateful for the partners that God has brought us that are making this all possible. God is so gracious and we are excited to see how He has brought us to the fulfillment of a dream. All glory to Him!
